Therapy is About You!

…or it should be, anyway. You spend so much of your life paying attention to others’ needs, wants, and worries. We’re hoping you can disengage from that mode for 50 minutes, and really take care of you. The last thing you need is to worry about your therapist during your time to take care of you.

…But let’s face it, it can help to know a little something about the people you put all of your trust into. You may be sharing your personal stories or even entrusting your children to us. So, if you’re interested, here’s a little bit about us…

Erik J. Rinke, MA LMFT

Erik is kind and caring while also direct and challenging. He mixes a calming, supportive presence with awareness of strategic planning toward growth and resolution. Over the past 16 years, Erik has openly worked with people in the area that face challenges big and small. With specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Erik has increasingly focused on trauma or faced concerns with awareness of trauma.

Setting/Availability: both in-office and in-person

Availability: Various Days and Times. All TBD in communication with Erik.

Special Training/Experience:

“In the roughly 20 years that I’ve been doing this, I don’t think any special training comes close to what’s gained from sitting with people as they cry, struggle, laugh, and journey through whatever they’re facing.”

“I also acknowledge that I’ve changed over time. I used to think that I had to fix people and push them. Now, I’m more supportive and responsive; we work through whatever is afflicting them together… they own it, and I guide and care, more than provide a fix.”

Erik is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and maintains up-to-date training on this practice. Through training, practice, and research, Erik is interested in the roles unlabeled trauma and attachment play in lifelong development.

Erik is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Minnesota (since 2007).  Erik is also a State Board Approved Supervisor, which means he advises new or unlicensed therapists.

Erik has a Master’s Degree from Argosy University. Erik’s degree is in Marriage and Family Therapy, which focuses on both interpersonal problems and solutions, as well as individual concerns with emphasis on systemic/family interaction with the individual.

Personal:

Erik is a committed father of 3 and husband. In the wild, you might find him running trails at Theodore Wirth or Elm Creek, where’s probably preparing for another ultramarathon.
